Slate Saw

An extremely rare saw used to cut slate. This blade was used in the slate quarries of Monson, Maine. The teeth have very little set. The blade is extremely thick. During the cutting process, the blade was cooled by a stream of water. This blade shows much use. The blade measures 18 1/4 inches in diameter. It was purchased from an antique dealer who is a long time resident of Monson, Maine.
