Cutoff Saw Blade

Early logs where cut with an ax or with a large two-man powered cross cut saw. The ends of the logs had to be squared in order to be held in place securely as they were sliced into boards. Many sawmills used water powered cutoff saws for this purpose. Later, steam powered cutoff saws became popular. This blade was used in Massachusetts. The blade measures 60 inches.
