18th Century Ell Spear

A wonderful blacksmith made ell spear that most likely dates into the 1700's. This spear is made from wrought iron. It was found by construction workers who were making repairs on a dam. The spear shows signs of being buried but, is in overall excellent condition. Some early fisherman must have lost this item after a day of work harvesting ells. The area at which this item was found is still popular today. Many ells are harvested at this site every year.
