Home-Made Artificial Hand
1049-29 . . . Home-Made Prosthetic hand. This prosthetic is made from steel, leather, and wood. It is a home-made device that is worn smooth from years of use. This hook must have served the owner very well. It was part of a collection of prosthetics put together by a doctor who specialized in treating amputees. It is difficult to judge the age of a home-made item such as this. My best guess is 1875 give or take a few years one way or the other.
