279-20 . . . A set of 18th Century pewter syringes. Sets like these were a common household item in the 18th century. The larger syringe was used for adults and the smaller syringe was for children. Both syringes are in excellent working condition. The wood box is home-made, and dates later than the syringes. The syringes probably date 1750 or later. The box looks to have been made around 1820.
