Early Teaching Skull
2097-14 . . . . . I have a skull that shows evidence of a massive blow to the front of the face. The browline is clearly broken but has healed. The area between the eye orbits is extremely wide. The cheek bones are not of the proper shape. No teeth remain in the upper jaw. The pallet is healed in the area that teeth should be. The blow that caused this damage did not kill the patient. However, he or she had to have been greatly disfigured. At some point the top of the skull has been cut away so that the inside of the skull could be inspected. The cut is very crude and most likely done by a student.
