Birthing Harness
2049-19 . . Birthing straps were used by mid-wives to keep the mothers legs in the birthing position. In use, the strap went behind the women neck and around each leg above the knee. The height of the leg could be controlled by clipping the end of the strap on a series of metal rings. Very few birthing straps have survived.
